Fabric care
Linen and cotton both shrink and soften in their own way. A little preparation before you cut keeps your yardage true to size and helps the weave look its best through every wash.
Step by step
01
Wash your linen or cotton in warm water and dry it flat or on a low setting. This settles natural fiber shrinkage so your cut pieces keep their intended size.
02
Use a mild detergent on a gentle cycle in cool or lukewarm water. Keep loads light so the fibers can move freely and stay soft.
03
Hang linen and cotton to dry or lay it flat, away from direct heat. Air drying preserves the weave and avoids stiffening or tightening the fabric.
04
Press on the reverse side with a steam iron while the fabric is still slightly damp. Use a firm hand for crisp hems, or leave a light touch for a relaxed linen texture.
